Vectrona, LLC Awarded Phase I SBIR

Virginia Beach, VA – 29 Nov, 2018 – Vectrona is pleased to announce it has been awarded a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract to develop training solutions based on innovative Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Reality technologies (AR/VR/MR).  The award was sponsored by Air Force Research Labs and AFWERX who have partnered to streamline the SBIR process in an attempt to speed up the experience, broaden the pool of potential applicants and decrease bureaucratic overhead. Beginning in SBIR 18.2, and now in 18.3, the Air Force has begun offering ‘Special’ SBIR topics that are faster, leaner and open to a broader range of innovations.

“We’re incredibly excited about this opportunity and look forward to providing Air Force Warfighters with new technology tools that will enhance insight development, accelerate learning and make a significant positive contribution to capability and readiness,” said Joe Gelardi, Vectrona CEO.

The Air Force is a dynamically evolving institution that requires the ability to acquire and transfer knowledge at an accelerated rate – with flexibility and ease.  AR, VR and MR training technologies have the potential to become a critically important component of future Air Force training solutions to help meet increasingly demanding technology learning requirements.
