Physical Security Expert Consultant (1099)


Status: Part-Time (1099)

Background: Vectrona is seeking a physical security consultant that can blend deep domain knowledge in physical security within the nuclear sector with innovative training methodologies, particularly the use of Extended Reality (XR). You will play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing training modules focused on physical security measures, emergency preparedness, and response strategies in the context of nuclear facilities. This initiative is part of a broader effort to leverage Extended Reality (XR) immersive learning technologies to provide NRC staff with realistic, interactive training experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in task orders related to physical security
  • Guide the development and revision of training modules focusing on physical security, emergency preparedness, and counter-terrorism strategies
  • Collaborate with XR developers to ensure the physical security training modules are technically accurate, realistic, and effectively utilize XR technologies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on best practices, regulatory standards, and innovative security technologies relevant to nuclear facilities.
  • Conduct technical reviews and updates of training content to reflect current industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide expertise in the creation of multi-user input scenarios for immersive learning activities.

Education/Degree(minimum):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Security Studies, Criminal Justice, Nuclear Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree or specialized certification in Physical Security or Nuclear Facility Security preferred.

Qualifications

  • Nuclear Security Professional certification (strongly preferred).
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in physical security within the nuclear sector, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience in training or educational roles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of physical security strategies, emergency preparedness, and counter-terrorism measures specific to nuclear facilities.
  • Experience in developing technical training materials, with a preference for those who have utilized XR technologies in training program development.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including technical experts, instructional designers, and XR developers.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Expertise in physical security principles and their application within nuclear facilities.
  • Proficiency in using and applying XR technologies for training purposes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex security concepts in an accessible manner.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to prioritize work, and shift priorities as needed to meet aggressive deadlines
