Vectrona Awarded Phase I STTR to Advance Digital Training Transformation for Naval Aviation

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., 1 October 2025 – Vectrona is honored to announce the award of a Phase I Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) contract from the U.S. Navy. In partnership with Old Dominion University and ASEC, and in collaboration with NAWC-TSD, Vectrona will develop adaptive training systems that leverage physiological data to support Student Naval Aviators across both manned and unmanned platforms.

This project exemplifies Vectrona’s ongoing mission to drive digital training transformation – where data-driven insights, immersive technologies, and systems thinking converge to modernize learning and readiness for 21st‑century missions.

The initiative aims to equip CNATRA and Naval Aviation instructors with tools that enhance real-time performance adaptation, improve resilience, and reduce attrition due to factors like motion sickness and cognitive overload.

“Experienced aviators know that success in training hinges on both mental and physical readiness,” said Joe Gelardi, CEO and retired Naval Aviator with more than 3,000 flight hours in fighter aircraft. “By harnessing real-time physiological data in a digitally transformed training environment, we’re delivering solutions that simplify the complex and support student aviators and their instructors as they prepare for the high-stakes missions ahead.”

At Vectrona, we’re committed to simplifying complexity and building training solutions that work as hard as those who use them – ensuring readiness, confidence, and mission success.
