F-16 Maintenance SME

 Background: Vectrona is seeking a seasoned F-16 Maintenance SME to play a critical role in the development and implementation of cutting-edge mixed reality (MR) training experiences, with a focus on the F-16’s armament, electrical, fuel, and hydraulic systems. The SME will provide expert knowledge and hands-on experience to support the creation of immersive, interactive training experiences designed to enhance maintenance proficiency and operational readiness. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Aircraft Systems Knowledge: Possess in-depth knowledge of the F-16’s systems, with a specific focus on electrical, fuel, and hydraulic systems, as well as armament, avionics, propulsion, and structural components.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, instructional designers, and other aviation SMEs to ensure that MR content accurately reflects real-world F-16 maintenance environments and procedures.
  • Training Programs: Develop and review MR training experiences tailored for maintenance personnel, focusing on the F-16’s electrical, fuel, and hydraulic systems, along with broader operational procedures.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide expert guidance in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues related to the F-16’s systems, ensuring optimal aircraft performance and safety.
  • Technical Orders (TOs) Knowledge: Demonstrate thorough understanding and application of F-16 Technical Orders (TOs) to ensure all maintenance procedures and MR training content are accurate and compliant with official guidelines.
  • Safety Standards: Ensure that all maintenance activities, as well as MR training environments, adhere strictly to aviation safety standards and regulations.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee compliance with all relevant military and aviation regulations, including those specific to F-16 maintenance and operations.

Education/Degree (minimum):  A Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field is often preferred. In some cases, extensive experience and relevant certifications may substitute for formal education.

Qualifications:

  • Hands-On Experience: 10-12 years of experience with the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the F-16 aircraft, with a specific focus on electrical, fuel, and hydraulic systems. Experience in a military or aerospace maintenance environment is essential.
  • Advanced Experience: Proven experience in advanced maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and system upgrades specific to the F-16’s electrical, fuel, and hydraulic systems.
  • Military Certification: Completion of official military maintenance training programs specific to the F-16, such as those offered by the U.S. Air Force or other air forces operating the F-16.
  • Civilian Certifications: Certifications from recognized aviation or aerospace organizations, such as an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license or similar credentials, are advantageous.
  • Technical Orders and Manuals: Familiarity with and ability to work with specific Technical Orders (TOs) and manuals relevant to the F-16’s systems.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • In-Depth Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of the F-16’s electrical, fuel, and hydraulic systems, including their operational principles, components, and maintenance requirements.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex technical issues related to these systems.
  • Safety Compliance: Comprehensive knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to aircraft maintenance and MR training environments.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with military and aviation regulations, including those specific to the F-16.
