Background:
- Vectrona is seeking a Data Engineer to support the Marine Corps Installations Command (MCICOM), G-9 Installation Analytics and Common Output Levels of Service (COLS) program. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the robust data infrastructure that powers enterprise-wide analytics and reporting. The Data Engineer will develop scalable data pipelines, sustain critical applications, and enable seamless integration with financial and performance systems across the United States Marine Corps installation network.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines that support ingestion, transformation, and delivery of data from multiple sources including financial and performance systems.
- Develop application features for the Common Output Levels of Service application and other analytical tools that support installation operations.
- Ensure proper data governance and quality controls are applied throughout data ingestion and transformation processes.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and program analysts to support the development of meaningful insights for leadership decision-making.
- Optimize data integration with systems such as the Planning, Budgeting, and Information System and the Defense Agencies Initiative.
- Support development and documentation of data architecture, interfaces, and backend infrastructure for reporting tools.
Preferred Education/Degree:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Systems, or a related technical field.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
- At least three (3) years of experience in a data engineering or software development environment.
- Proficiency with Structured Query Language and data pipeline technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Amazon Web Services Glue, or Talend.
- Experience developing or supporting enterprise-level dashboards or data visualization platforms.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense or federal government data systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Business Intelligence backend development or application programming interface integration with third-party systems.
